Hello November!  Hate to see you so soon, but at least you showed up in a good mood right?  I started a bit early but I’m growing my facial hair for Movember (or No Shave November), whichever LOL  So now just shaving dome and neck.  Great morning walk today. I love getting up an hour later.  Feels like I got away with sleeping in 🙂

Great shave today.  I was lazy this past weekend so I had to deal with 3 days growth this morning.  Pulled out the Dragons Blood soap by Kells.  LOVE the scent of this soap.  Lathers easily and makes a nice smooth lather.  Not super dense, but has great cushion and slickness.  After shave skin feel is smooth and hydrated.  Definitely a recommendation if you haven’t tried a Kell’s soap.

I popped a sharp Wilkinson Sword blae into the WW2 Tech this morning.  Turns out to be a really good pairing.  The Sword is sharp and smooth, and the Tech is just aggressive enough to make mowing down 3 days growth nice & easy.  Very minor touch up in the usual spots.  No errors.  Ended up baby butt smooth dome and throat.  And that’s how she likes it 😉

Post: Nivea Sensitive Post Shave Balm & Captains Choice AS – Lime

Had a great pre-weekend outing last night.  My kid surprised me with a visit and we stopped by the opening night of The Taste of Kalamazoo!  It’s all about food & drink & music!  Had a pretty good time as the crowds hadn’t really shown up yet.  Rumblefish was the opening band.  They are always a good time!

Fantastic shave this morning!  Woke up feeling like I slept really well.  So I wanted a vibrant scented shave.  Pulled out the Kell’s Dragons Blood.  It’s hard for me to describe this scent but I love it.  It’s kind of a citrusy/spicey/herbal thing.  You really need to check it out.  Kell’s is my only soap in the “melt & pour” category.  I tend to stay away from those soaps in favor of croaps or traditional pucks, but this Kell’s is easily one of the best latherers I have.  In case you didn’t notice the pic. LOL  Skin feel is very good during and after shave.

Went back to my Black handled Tech today.  It just felt like a better choice than any of my TTOs this morning.  No real reason why, just a gut instinct.  And it seems I was right as I ended up with a near perfect BBS shave.  Zero errors and silky smooth!  I feel good!

TGIF!!  A lot going on this weekend!  Everyone be safe!

SOTD 10/21 New Blood

10212014

Pre: Sir Hare Bald Head Care Shaving Oil – Beach Bum
Brush: Custom Boar by Steve Brown Swirl Handle
Soap: Kell’s Original Handcrafted Shaving Soap – Dragons Blood (Hemp/Aloe Blend)
Razor:  ’32 -40 Gillette Short New Comb Bar Handle
Blade:  Super Max Stainless (2)
Splash:   Wal-Mart Witch hazel 86%
Post: Gillette Lotion ASB & Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue

Flawless.  I haven’t had a shave this awesome in like…ever!  I’m not exaggerating.  This mornings shave was perfect in nearly every way.  After yesterdays great shave, I think I’m on a roll!  This was my second time using the Kell’s soap and man did it perform today!  I must have added the perfect amount of water because the lather freaking exploded.  It had to be one of the best lathers I have ever generated.  Thick, silky with plenty of cushion.  The razor just floated through it.  The skin feel was great between passes.  No errors at all!  I still can’t really pin down the scent, but I did notice some decidedly floral points in it this morning.

Second shave on the Super Max blade.  Again, flawless.  The combo of this blade in the vintage New was perfection!  The blade felt totally smooth and sharp.  I’d say this blade gives the Gillette Silver Blues a run for the money.  If I had to, I could totally use this setup as my everyday shave.  It was that good. But as you know, I am totally addicted to variety and experimentation.  I am trying to pare my daily rotation down to only 4-5 razors but I have so many razors that I like, it’s an uphill battle LOL

It’s time for a hot Chai latte!
