I didn’t enjoy this mornings shave.  I don’t exactly know what the deal was but it wasn’t pleasant.  Since I’ve used everything else before with good results, all I can assume is that it was the blade.  It was the 3rd shave on it.  Being an injector blade, I would think I’d get more than three shaves out of it, but this one was so rough I’m hesitant to try a fourth.  Any one know who makes Kmarts blades?  I know a lot of store brand blades are made by Persona.  3-4 weepers and one good nick in the back.  Yeah…

On a better note, I like the new Maggard soap!  It’s my first fougere from anywhere.  I like the scent, although it seemed kind of faint.  Are fougeres supposed to be like that?  Obviously more research is required 😉  The soap lathered great but I may not have added quite enough water as it felt a little dry after the razor pass.  Nice after the shave skin feel.  I’m finding the lime PSO actually compliments many different soap scents.  It was a good choice.  Top off with Aqua Velva Musk!

Enjoy your day!

Hope everyone had a happy Independence Day!  Mine started off bad as I apparently left my debit card in the atm first thing in the morning, on my way to Moms house.  Didn’t discover it was missing until much later in the day.  I immediately rushed back to the atm.  Of course my card was gone.  But what was on the ground?  Someone else’s card!  So I grabbed it and I’ll be turning it in to the bank this morning.  Long story short, I canceled it and have a new one coming.  No unauthorized transactions.  Of course it means no online purchases for 7-10 days until I get the replacement card lol  The night ended well as the owners of the company I work for, threw a BBQ shindig at their home that was a lot of fun.  Good food, beer, 80s & 90s music and good company.  We played “Cards Against Humanity”.  If you haven’t played that game, it’s hilarious.  Gotta have a sense of humor.  Ended the night with a huge fireworks blast off!  Well, of course 😉

Today’s shave went well.  I tried the PAL again.  I have to say again that it is a very different shave than a DE razor.  Definitely makes me slow down and concentrate on what I’m doing.  Which in my book, is a good thing as I tend to unconsciously rush things sometimes.  The blade is still very much sharp.  Still feels like a naked blade sliding across my dome.  Maybe its the blade.  I assume there are blade differences similar to different brands of safety razor blades.  Couple of minor weepers.  Still working on getting the angle right with this razor.  I do like it though and will continue to use it.

This was the last of my TOBS Coconut sample.  Love the scent and its a fantastic lather!  I will have to get some of this when I make my next purchase in a couple weeks or so.  The PSO Lime and the Coconut were a good pairing.  Topped it off with the Aqua Velva Musk.  I smell dang good!  Enjoy your Saturday…

Another first!  Finally got around to breaking out the PAL!  Well actually, a Facebook friend sent me a Schick injector to try, with a single blade.  it was a tough choice but after some deliberation I elected to use that blade in the PAL instead.  I’ll get to the Schick as soon as I grab some more blades.

Right off the bat, MAN could I feel that blade on my skull!  No dragging, or skipping but it felt like I had the naked blade up there.  Consequently I took it really slow.  I think for a first shave it went fairly well.  Only a couple of minor weepers.  Super close shave!  Just shy of a BBS.  I can see the appeal of SE shaving.  It is quite different from safety razors.  Took me a few minutes to figure out the angle on the back of my head.  So that’s where the nicks occurred.  It does feel similar to a cartridge razor in grip and angle.  I will definitely try it again, but I don’t think I’ll be converting to SE.  I love my safety razors!

Overall a pretty nice shave.  I know that with practice I will be getting some BBS shaves regularly from this razor.  It makes me more curious to how a straight razor would feel on the dome.  I’m in no rush to try one, unless I luck into one.  😉  Have a great day!

P.s. The blade UNDER the PAL razor is a pocket folder I picked up years ago, long before I had any interest in shaving in any form.  Got it at a flea market mainly because the blade looked like a straight razor.  I didn’t know any better back then, obviously LOL  I think I paid $8 for it.  But you know what?  That knife is the sharpest blade I own, and I own many!  Makes me wonder if I really could put a shaving edge on it.  I believe it’s 440 stainless steel.  Hmm…
